Nice pix of His Bobness and Queen Jane, and a great performance. But apparently the female vocalist is Joan OSBORNE, from a 1988 recording session.

I loved the book as a young lad and have re-read it many times. I also love this TV adaptation, thanks for posting it.

I loved this series and the book and still do. Some years later I went to Iceland and followed in the footsteps, or Landrover tracks of Alan and Erin, and of course Kennikin. My wife met Stuart Wilson a few years ago, and he signed my book for me. Disappointingly, he didn't like the series, whether it was because he was being cast in action roles and was at heart a theatre actor, I don't know. However,I hope one day the BBC see fit to put it out on DVD in its original 3 part form rather than this rather truncated version.

I loved most of the espionage show from that time, including this one. I didn’t always agree with the dramatised versions of the book. This stays fairly close to the book.

Love this song and especially this version also. I kind of wish it was Joan Baez but it isn't; it's Joan Osborne.

I don't understand this... theres a rendition that is THIS, brt I was told it was a differenu Joan singing with him. And I began to accept that cause this oerson isnt exactky Joan Baez, but tgen then it was someone's idea to put this video footage WITH JOAN BAEZ. Is this just a an error ? 9/13/23 One of his greatest! *** What *wonderful* pix! Thanks for sharing these gems. Photos showing deep, repspectful love & friendship. And .. were we ever that young? 😲 Bobby's, Joan's & my generation - Boomers AKA the Civil Rights Gen - was so passionate & so full of hope. It's seems like an eternity ago. I doubt there will ever be a generation like ours again. We got shit done! We made positive changes in every aspect of culture & society worldwide, we ended an immoral & unnecessary war, we enacted women's rights, we got Civil & Human Rights laws passed, etc. #MyGeneration1940_1957_TrueBoomers #BobDylan #JoanBaéz

For the record, it is Joan Osborne accompanying Bob here (not Baez). As a side note, Osborne and Jackson Browne sing an incredible version of "My Back Pages"....One of the most beautiful things I have ever encountered.

This has to be my favourite book of all time. Thoroughly enjoyed Desmond Bagley's whole output but this inspired me to travel to Iceland in '75. Would love to go back. Sadly, and correctly, as one reviewer has stated, the BBC has never released this film in any form, VHS or DVD, but I found out many years ago when I asked that great numbers of BBC productions were never kept, just been chucked out. I find that utterly reprehensible. Surely you archive everything you make, irrespective?? Shows the incredible arrogance of the BBC to compound 1) their hideous & relentless persecution of people over the license fee and rescinding the agreement for free ones for the over 75s, 2) all the coverups of wrongdoing over the years, 3) sacking the old stalwart TV/radio stars because they're "too old" and 4) their general failure to report actual news (like the ULEZ revolt outside their own offices!) The BBC may still be regarded as a British institution but they're so woke now they've made themselves irrelevant in the digital age & something needs to give!

😊great show. I remember watching it when I was young. It really got me interested in Iceland 🇮🇸. Now I am 57 and still love this program. So much great things in it, the aircraft the Landover with the radio set. The fishing trawlers and the scenery of 🇮🇸 Iceland. I was able to visit it in the 90s. ❤ Iceland 🇮🇸 cheers

Thank you so much for uploading this. I saw this when I was about 14 and so did a friend of mine I met later at uni. It inspired us both to go to Iceland and try to cycle the Gæsavatnaleið road through the interior. Is this an edited version of the mini series? I’m sure I remember Stewart tying up the platform across the Tungnaá and being criticised by Elin for damaging government property! He certainly does it in the book. Wonderful to watch this again!

Could somebody out there please settle a query that been nagging me since watching this film ? The guy in this film who plays Stewart, is he the same actor who plays the main bad guy in Lethal Weapon 3 ? (obviously years later !). I haven't Googled the answer yet cuz I seem to be doing that a lot lately. I am 98% sure that it is the same actor. I just wanted independent confirmation. Thanks

I didn't read as much when I was 8 but I saw it then. The freewheeling lifestyle of Mr Stuart really appealed, he seemed master of his destiny against all the odds, with a certain sense of humour, but I had to get over the feeling that he was a bad guy for what happened in the opening shots. There were worse people he was dealing with, but it wasn't total chaos, there was a certain predictability and manageability in the situations, opponents had humanity, it wasn't 'reservoir dogs'
